Dave Smith – Piano Concert

British composer and pianist Dave Smith performs a selection of eclectic pieces from his series of solo piano concerts.

Encompassing a varieties of styles, works in this programme will include: And With Thy Daring Folly Burn The World3 Kerala Song Arrangements and On the Virtues of Flowers.

Cauldron of Sound

This performance uses a sophisticated EEG device that turns brain activity into sound. The output is manipulated live and combined with fretless bass and gongs to create uncanny soundscapes that challenge the audience’s perception of resonant space.

Women in the Audio Industry

A session led by prominent industry professionals: Audio Engineer Isabel Gracefield Grundy of RAK Studios, record producer, engineer and mixer Steph Marziano, and producer, mixer and engineer Marta Salogni.

Our guests will be sharing their insider knowledge of the current trends taking place in our fastpaced industry.

The talk is followed by informal discussion and Q&A.

Long Beach Wind Symphony

Recognised internationally as a premiere wind ensemble, the California State University, Long Beach Wind Symphony continues to expand the school’s rich tradition of performance excellence. Composed of the finest wind and percussion performers, its mission is to stimulate musical growth and provide appreciation of the best of wind and percussion literature.

Xenia Prestova

Virtuoso pianist Xenia Pestova presents uncompromising renditions of radical text scores and improvisations on the Magnetic Resonator Piano (MRP), a new instrument designed by Andrew McPherson.

The instrument we all know and love will be completely transformed by electromagnets suspended above the strings, allowing control of minute details of resonance and sustained ‘bowed’ sounds that the pianist will shape from the keyboard.
